GHAZANCHYAN RAFAYEL
Writer, WUA member since 1973
Born in 1938, August 22, in Yerevan.
A graduate of Yerevan State University, the department of Philology. Running
responsible posts he worked in state literary press ('Yerekoyan Yerevan',
'Avangard', 'Hayreniki Dzayn'). His works started to be published since
1960. His works were translated into Russian, Bulgarian, French. He himself
translates from Russian.

AWARDS
1. In 2003 he was awarded the WUA Prize after Derenik Demirchyan for
his 'Father's Handwriting'.
2. In 2002 his 'The Sacret Target' story got the Prize for 'The Best Prose'
within WUA, 'Zoravar Andranik', and 'Hayastan' newspaper's joint Award.
3. In 1990 he was awarded the WUA annual Prize for his ' The Lion's Year'
novel and story collection.
