Literary Critic, Doctor of Philology, Professor, 1976 Member of the Writers’ Union of Armenia


Born October 18th, 1947, Yerevan.
Graduate of the Yerevan State University Department of Philology. He worked in Armenian Academy of Sciences, Abeghian Institute of Literature. 1985-89 he was the vice-director of the same institute, in the line of Literature. He was also the Director of the Yerevan State University Press. From 2000 he was the manager of the Abovian State Pedagogical University’s Department of Russian and Foreign Literature. He is the member of a number of press editorial councils. Between 1985 and 1990 he edited the “Critical Chronicles”, and from 2000, the “Armenian Language and Literature”. He is the author of over 30 monographs and collections, and over 600 literary and social and political articles.
