Playright, translator, theatrical critic, WUA member since 1964


Born in 1923, October 25, in the village of Sarukhan, Gegharqunik Marz.
A grauate of Yerevan Theatrical Institute, the Theatrical department. Running responsible posts he worked at the Theatre of Musical Comedy after H. Paronyan, in chief department of Armenian Union of Cultural Workers, in Theatricaal Union. He has written more than thirty plays which were applied by many Armenian troups in Armenia and not only. Some of his play translations also were staged in Armenia. A. Babayan is the author of many theatrical articles, radioplays and scenarios for documentary films.

AWARDS

1. The play 'Heart's Calling' was staged in Yambol's National theatre, Bulgaria, and awarded as 'The Best Play of the Year'.
2. In 1975 he became an Honoured Worker of Armenia.
