AVAGYAN AREVSHAT
Poet, writer, translator, publicist, painter
WUA member since 1970
Born in 1940, July 24, in Ashtarak.
A graduate of Yerevan State University, the department of Journalistics.
Worked on Armenian TV, in state literary press. He is the president of
Armenian Cultural Fund since 1994. JU and Artists' Union member. He had
personal art exhibitions in Yerevan, Moscow, Kiev, Boston, Paris, Los-Angeles.
He has been designing his own books starting with 1974 and is the author
of more than 20 collections of poetry and prose. He took part in international
festivals and meetings devoted to poetry in Paris, Poznan, Novi Sad and
Moscow. He himself organizes poetry and art festivals, TV projects and
programs. He translates as well. He has translations from French, Polish,
Russian, Georgian, Ukrainian and other languages. His own works were translated
into several foreign languages.

AWARDS
In 1981 he was awarded the WUA Prize after Av. Isahakyan for his poem
collection 'The Roots of Light'
